Inter Caste Marriage 2.5 Lakhs How to Apply: Apply Now for 2024 Financial Assistance

The Government of Assam is now accepting applications from eligible couples for the “Financial Incentive for Inter-Caste Marriages” under the PCR Act 1955 and SC/ST (PoA) Act 1989. This scheme offers financial support to promote inter-caste marriages and encourage social harmony within the state. For the year 2024, couples who meet the specified criteria can apply for a one-time financial assistance of ₹2.5 Lakhs. This amount will be deposited in a joint fixed deposit in a government or nationalized bank, with the woman’s name listed first. The deposit will have a lock-in period of three years and cannot be prematurely encashed. The availability of this incentive depends on the budget provisions and the sanction of funds by the government.

Eligibility Criteria for Inter-Caste Marriage Financial Assistance

To qualify for this financial assistance, couples must meet the following conditions:

  1. Inter-Caste Marriage Requirement: One spouse must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, while the other should be from the General Caste Hindu community.
  2. Marriage Certificate: A marriage certificate issued by the Sub-Registrar’s office is mandatory.
  3. Marriage Timeline: The marriage should have taken place between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023.
  4. First Marriage Only: This incentive is available only for the couple’s first marriage. To confirm this, a marriage certificate from a Gazetted Officer is required.
